General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The most common causes I can think of are as follows:
- Colitis of transverse colon
- Gastritis
- Pancreatitis
- Lymph node mass

This can be diagnosed well by the following ways:
- Clinical evaluation by a general surgeon
- CT scan of abdomen
- Upper GI endoscopy
- Tests of blood, stool and urine as would be advised after clinical evaluation

All this will lead to a proper diagnosis which is very important for a specific treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
