What Causes Intermittent Fever With A Rash Behind The Knees Of A Child?

My 6 year old has run a fever off and on for the last few days and now has a rash behind his knees, on his back, and around his ankle. He complains of a headache. His nose runs and when we try to blow it, the one side it drains from is so stopped up he can t blow the mucus out it just drains. His ears seem to be stopped up also because he has trouble hearing us - we ve had to speak louder to him the last couple of days.

Oncologist 's  Response
Hello,

Most children with petechiae and fever have a mild viral illness. However, fever and petechiae are also seen with bacterial sepsis, especially with meningococcal disease.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Esmeralda Sera,
