Anesthesiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Fever which is on and off may be due to any of the following conditions like:
1) Upper respiratory tract infection
2) Tonsillitis
3) Influenza
4) Pneumonia
5) Tuberculosis
6) Stomach flu
7) Urinary tract infections
8) Food poisoning
9) Sinusitis

Many other causes are there but the above mentioned are most frequent ones. A course of antibiotics like amoxicillin clavulanate 500mg for 5 days would help. Coming to dementia, the following drugs are effective:
1) Donepezil (also known as Aricept), rivastigmine (Exelon) and galantamine (Reminyl)
2) Memantine is also helpful.

You need prescription for the above drugs. So you can consult a neuro-physician for detailed clinical examination and treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
