What Causes Intermittent Heart Palpitations After Recovering From A Stroke?

I have a problem with my heart. I could be sitting and doing nothing nothing totally relaxing and then my heart speeds up really fast. It makes me turn pale and it goes back to normal. I had a Stroke about a year ago and I have a heart murmur and a PFO. a hole behind my heart. I m just scared that its something serious.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms are suggestive of possible cardiac arrhythmia. For this reason, I recommend consulting with your cardiologist for a physical exam and some tests:
- An ambulatory 24- 48 hours ECG Holter monitoring in order to examine your heart rhythm trends for a prolonged period of time
- Complete blood count for anemia
- Thyroid hormone levels for thyroid gland dysfunction
- Blood electrolytes for possible imbalance.
You should discuss with your doctor on the above tests.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
