What Causes Intermittent Left-sided Pain In The Neck?

Hi, I ve had neck pain on and off for several years, always on the left side and above my clavical. It sometimes even appears swollen, but I ve never felt a lump. This usually comes and goes along with a sinus infection, so I figured they were related in some way. About 2 weeks ago, the neck pain and some swelling came back on the left side only, along with a good bit of sinus drainage down the back of throat. On Friday my throat felt like something was stuck in it and I was burping a lot, so I got a flash light and looked in and saw a peas sized, oval, flesh colored, smooth looking growth on top of my left tonsil, same side as the neck pain. It almost looks like a skin tag. What is it? I have an appt. With ent tomorrow, but am freaking out in the mean time. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
