What Causes Intermittent Nose Bleeding?

I have intermittent nose bleeding since last 3 days. Consulted a doctor who indicated a growth in my nose possibly because of a fungus/ bacteria that is typical to people who swim in ponds. Was also told many cases in Kerala and Orissa. I have been suggested for a surgery. Wanted to get some additional thoughts from your Drs.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

You need an endoscopy of nose. After the endoscopy we should take biopsy of the mass and wait for report. Sometimes there is a fungus called rhinosporidiosis.

It gives the same picture as you have said and common in South India. If it is that, then it has to be removed completely. If may recur, you do not need to worry.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rajat Basak
