What Causes Intermittent Numbness In The Forearms And Weakness In Arms?

I have sudden numbness in both my forearms that immediately makes my arms feel weak. This then moves to middle of my back simultaneously. After about 2 minutes it goes away. It has happened several times. I m doing a normal task and suddenly my forearms start to tingle. It goes away after a few minutes but it s happening more often. Otherwise I m healthy. I do sit at a a desk and my job is a secretary. Thanks.

Hello,

People who have a job at desk tend to have pain in back more often as prolonged sitting in same position results in the pain. Also when you are involved at a desk job it means more use of your arms, forearms for work and for a longer duration without breaks can cause numbness and tingling or pain in the arms.

There can be other cause to it. whenever patients who have similar jobs come with similar complaints to me, after careful examination, history taking and excluding any other possibility for the issues, I suggest them to keep changing positions at specific intervals while they are at work rather than sitting in the same position for a long time. Its advisable to take breaks in between andwalk around. Also do some easy exercises of arms, forearms, hands and back while sitting at the desk. Also, make sure to have appropriate food with all nutrients on time so that you will get enough strength for all this.

So I would suggest you try some simple stretching and take breaks in between. If this persists for long, see a doctor and follow his advice on further management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
