What Causes Intermittent Pain And Swelling In Neck?

I am intermittently facing chronic neck pain. Every 2-3 weeks it surfaces and lasts for a week or so. It is very painful and the neck area swell up sometimes. I have consulted twice already, but could not get any proper solution for this. Would be really great if you can share your thoughts on this. I have also seen that when I try to do some light neck exercises (as guided by a physio) it also ends up in a sprained neck for me.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern . As per your query you have swelling in your neck . well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like tonsillitis ,laryngitis or lymph node swelling . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis .Doctor may order throat swab test , viral culture test ,blood test and allergy test .Doctor may prescribe antibiotics (amoxicillin), anti inflammatory and anti allergic .For now do warm saline gargles , take benadryl twice a day and avoid food like nuts and sea food . Doctor may also recommend tonsillectomy .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
