Hello,

You are suffering from intermittent pain in the ankle. The pain is hurting you severely. Injury to any of the ankle bones, ligaments or tendons, and several types of arthritis can cause ankle pain. Ankle pain is commonly caused by sprained ankle, stress fracture, broken ankle, avulsion fracture, broken foot, Achilles tendinitis, Achilles tendon rupture, OA, RA, Gout, etc.

You are suggested to give rest to your foot, ice and cold compression will give relief. You can take Naproxen or Combiflam, one SOS when needed to get relieve from pain. You are suggested to get clinically examined by an Orthopedic. Your treating doctor will order an imaging test such as an X-ray, CT or MRI scan to come to a diagnosis. In the meantime, keep the affected foot at rest, keep it elevated on a stool when sitting and on a pillow when on bed.

Maintain a healthy weight, avoid carrying extra weight as it puts excess pressure on your joints and your ankles. Your treating doctor will suggest you to get connected to a physical therapist if required to help you strengthen muscles and prevent another injury. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected and the severity of your symptoms. Severe pain is commonly managed with braces and splits, injections and surgery.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
