General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. Your problem is most likely coccydynia. Pain can be worsened while sitting for long time or while constipation in this case. Also feels better after bowel movement. Reasons can be due to previous trauma or from difficult child birth in females also caused by infection or any mass growth. A physical examination with an orthopedician should be done to rule out this. X ray or MRI might be required in case of positive signs. It is treated by NSAID drugs , physiotherapy like ultrasound, physical therapy like stretching of ligaments there. Applying heat or cold packs will be helpful. Using custom pillow while sitting also helps. Avoid sitting for prolonged periods. Use stool softners if you have constipation. These measures will be helpful to get relief. If further no improvement then local injection of corticosteroid or anesthetic will help. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
