General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Since there was no history of direct trauma, it is unlikely that the pain is related to any bony injury unless it is an aggravation of arthritis if you have a history of knee arthritis.

If there is no such history then the pain may be due to soft tissue injury of the knee.

The use of warm compresses (2 to 4 times a day for 10 to 15 mins), rest as much as possible and anti-inflammatory meds (such as Ibuprofen, naproxen etc)- may be helpful. If there is no relief then imaging may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
