Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Intermittent Pain In The Knee While Bending It?
Pain in right knee that comes and goes depending on position of leg. Pain worse on first getting up. Noticed pain about 4 weeks ago after pushing a wooden chair back to get up. Pain has gotten worse, but don t notice pain when in a laying down position. Pain worse with knee bent in a sitting Dow position.
Since there was no history of direct trauma, it is unlikely that the pain is related to any bony injury unless it is an aggravation of arthritis if you have a history of knee arthritis.
If there is no such history then the pain may be due to soft tissue injury of the knee.
The use of warm compresses (2 to 4 times a day for 10 to 15 mins), rest as much as possible and anti-inflammatory meds (such as Ibuprofen, naproxen etc)- may be helpful. If there is no relief then imaging may be needed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
