What Causes Intermittent Pain In Thigh Radiating To Foot?
I am female aged 50.had pain intermittently in front side of thigh for several months[dull aching] . This seems to have progressed into front of foot as a shooting pain. Only concerned now as I have pain in heel on opposite leg. I am reasonably fit and suffer no other illnesses and take no medication. I am not overweight. What do you thinhk/should I visit GP?
Based on your description to the type of pain, it is possible that it is neuragia or nerve related pain.
This can be due to : (1) vitamin b12 or folate deficiency (2)diabetes (3)liver or kidney disease (4)exposure to toxins (5)side effect of medications (6)some hormonal or autoimmune diseases (7)ms, stroke (8)infection such as shingles (9)cause is not known
Blood tests to screen for diabetes, check for infection and check the vitamin levels , should be done. Screening for hormonal diseases and autoimmune conditions may also be considered.
There are medications that can be used to help with this type of pain. They would require a prescription from your doctor . Eg lyrica, tegretol, gabapentin, amitriptyline, nortriptyline
I hope this helps
