Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain recurring red bumps on the lips can occur due to Viral infection caused by a virus known as "HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS" and the condition is known as "RECURRENT HERPES SIMPLEX LABIALIS".

In this case after an initial infection the virus remains dormant and can become active due to different conditions like fever, hormonal changes, stress, sun exposure, dental treatment, reduced immunity etc leading to recurrence of sores..

The blisters or sores can get inflamed leading to redness, itchiness and dryness.

I would suggest you to consult an Oral pathologist or a dermatologist and get evaluated for the cause of sores which are most probably seems to be herpes. Taking swab from the sores and doing pathological evaluation can give correct diagnosis..

If it is herpes following treatment can help..

In case of pain or inflammation cold packs and taking tylenol tablets can help..

Antiviral medicines does not seem to cure the infection but seems to reduce outbreaks.

Antiviral topical ointments like acyclovir and famicyclovir can help in reducing viral count on the sores.

Always apply sunscreen based lip balms before going getting into sun..

Avoid any close contact with anyone to avoid transmission of infection..

Do not touch the sores with hands or tongue to avoid transmission of viruses to inside of mouth and other body parts...

Do not share your utensils and other personal use things with others..

Hope your query is solved..

Thanks and regards..
