What Causes Intermittent Sharp Pain Above Prominentia Laryngea?
I ve been having an on and off sharp pain just above my Adams apple. It started as just a dull ache aprox 2 months ago. Last week or two it s gotten worse and is more painful after I sneeze or cough. Tonight it got worse after eating dinner now It hurts everytime I swallow. It also hurts when I don t swallow but much less. Thank you
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.
Your symptoms seem to be related to a thyroid issue. A goiter is an abnormal enlargement of the thyroid gland which is in the neck, just below the Adam's apple. Throat tension and tightness is one of the symptoms of a goiter. Other symptoms can include difficulty breathing or swallowing as well as swelling in the front of the throat and neck. I suggest to do a thyroid ultrasound and thyroid hormone levels for further evaluation.
Hope my answer was helpful.
