What Causes Intermittent Sharp Pain In The Inner Thigh?

Every once in a while for the past year I ll feel a sharp pin prick style pain in my left inner thigh, just above the knee. It lasts for a few moments and then disappears. It doesn t seem to correlate at all with exercise, excessive standing or walking for long periods. I m 24 years old and the only medication I take regularly is a daily birth control pill.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

The presentation sounds like it could be associated with a vascular cause. Although this is nothing serious and doesn't really require medication or management.

In medicine there is a saying, if its not broken, dont mend it. This is too minor an issue for medical intervention, sometimes intervention can cause more trouble than the situation itself.

Best wishes.
