What Causes Intermittent Spotting After Having Unsafe Sex?

Hello! This is a question regarding pregnancy. I got a very faint positive hpt at 7dpo and took another test the next day and got a negative. I called the doctor for a blood test and when I got there they gave me a urine test which was negative. My period started April 18th until April 21st I had unprotected sex & he ejaculated inside on April 28th . On May 3rd I started having spotting like I have never had before. It s on and off. It stopped on the 4th at 5:30 until at my Dr appointment when I went to wipe I noticed fresh bright blood - not like the spotting- and more so I assumed my period was starting I used a tampon but after that rush it stopped again. Now I m having very light pink mixed with my cervical mucus and pee when I wipe and just a little bit. After I got the negative at home after the positive the day before I looked up online 7dpo positive hpt and negative afterwards and it seems to have happened to a lot of women and they didn t get a positive again until 12dpo. I thought maybe I was experiencing implantation bleeding and I know it s really early to test but after the really light spotting 6days later and then that faint positive got me thinking. Any opinions?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The time when you had unprotected sex could be the time of ovulation and thus there are chances of pregnancy.
Implantation takes place 6 days after conception and is often accompanied by implantation bleeding, lower abdominal cramping, breast fullness, vaginal discharge etc.
The spotting that you are experiencing could be implantation bleeding.
Urine pregnancy test becomes positive 10-14 days after conception.
Since, the urine pregnancy test is weakly positive, I suggest you to repeat the urine pregnancy test.
Besides an urine pregnancy test, I also suggest you to get a blood test for beta HCG.
The blood levels of beta HCG are increased during pregnancy and there is two fold increase every 48 hours.

Thanks and take care
