What Causes Intermittent Twinges On The Head While Treating Tongue Cancer?

I ve been having intermittent twinges on the top of my head all day. I wouldn t say that they are painful but more that they cause discomfort in that they cause my right eye to close. When I touch my head, it is sensitive and if I apply pressure it hurts. I ve taken Advil but it hasn t helped. Should I see my doctor? I ve also had what seems to be a cold for about six weeks. I ve had extensive radiation to treat a stage 4 base of tongue cancer in the last three years and my father had a hereditary brain aneurysm.

Hi,

We will try to help you in the best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, it can be due to nerve pain but any signs of post-surgery infection or disease spread needs to be ruled out by review with your primary care physician and repeat review with the surgeon.

Meanwhile, OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
