What Causes Intermittent Vaginal Spotting Along With Abdominal Cramps?

I started spotting last friday and experienced very dull light cramps on saturday and continued to spot until Sunday evening. Monday I began bleeding normally and had a few small clots. Tuesday, I was back to spotting and I have been spotting since then. This very unusual for me. Usually I bleed for four days with a normal flow. I just want to make sure that there was no cause for alarm. Am I just making a mountain out of a mole hill?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is understandable to be concerned.

It is possible that this is a one off occurrence, it is not unusual for women to experience an abnormal period occasionally.

If it recurs often then your doctor will rule out causes such as fibroids, infection, endometriosis or abnormal levels of hormones.

I hope this helps
