What Causes Involuntary Grinding Of Teeth In A Heart Patient?

I have what I believe to be bruxism however I grind my teeth unconsciously during the day. I do not grind at night as I awake with no pain either in my head or jaws and those muscles feel relaxed. This started in 2002 when I lost my job and has stayed with me since. I have heart disease and wonder if this is having adverse issues on my heart. Anyway is there anything that can be done to relieve this condition. I have consciously tried to stop and can until I am not concentrating then it begins before I realize it.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per you query it seems that teeth grinding or Bruxism habit after loosing job is due to most probably Stress..
Stress is one of the most common cause for Bruxism..
It doesn't seem probably related to Heart related issues..
I would suggest you to consult an Orthodontist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can be done..
In case if it is due to stress then stress relieving by meditation, deep breathing exercises and keeping yourself engaged in activities of your choice can help..
You can also be advised mouth guards to prevent teeth damage due to continuous grinding..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
