What Causes Involuntary Head Movements In A Child?

I am a school counselor and have a student exhibiting head tics. She looks like she shivers for a moment or that she s flipping her hair to the side, but it seems like it s an involuntary shiver of her head. The only medication she has been on was during the summer for allergies and asthma but hasn t taken any medicine for the past two month. No known stresses. Well-adjusted. They ve lasted for about a month.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It is possible for she may have Tourette's syndrome if she is having tics though there are other possible causes as well.

It would be best to suggest to her parents that she is evaluated by her doctor to determine the cause of the tics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
