What Causes Involuntary Jerking Of The Arms And Legs At Night?

My husband, age 67 and in good health, has been having muscle jerking at night. His arms and legs will jerk spontaneously as he sleeps. He has lost about 60 pounds by eating low carb, still works a full time job, and is active with outside work at home. Any ideas?
