What Causes Involuntary Passing Of Gas?

I am a 54 year old woman, and my problem is that every now and then I pass gas without any warning or sensation of having to go. (At other times I get a warning and can control it, but sometimes not) I have had hemorroids removed, thinking it was gong to help, but problem persist.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* The inability to control fart indicate laxity of external anal sphincter either via previous hemorrhoid surgery or other nerve-related issues affecting pudendal nerve plexus.

* In my clinic, I do per rectal examination for evaluation of the anal sphincter tone and later if required an MRI of the anal region is best to look into the thorough tissue details and management protocol must be based over the precise diagnosis only.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
