What Causes Involuntary Vomiting Immediately After Eating?
My father who is 85 is not able to eat. He eats a little bit of food or drinks a little water and then one to five minutes later it just comes up and he vomis it. The problem becomes worse every day. He lost 40 lbs the last six weeks. Starting in April he had to stents placed in his heart, six weeks ago he had a new heart valve put in thur the groin. The CHF sx are improved. Has chronic A fib, new meds are blood thinner and oasis.
Usually this occur when there is bad gastritis / peptic ulcer. But given his age and recent weight loss, we need to rule out more important conditions causing obstruction to esophagus (like neoplasms). So kindly take him to doctor and get evaluated. If it is gastritis, a short course of antacids will help. Meanwhile, give him small frequent semisolid items to improve retention.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam TK, Pediatrician
