What Causes Irregular Dark Spotting After Having Intercourse?

Hi, I ve had the Mirena IUD inserted about 8 months ago. My period has been normal for quite some time up until this month. My period for July had came normally. While I was on vacation, I noticed that my period had seemed to come back for 3 days after 2 weeks of having my last period and then stopped. I had also missed my regular period. Today, I woke up to light red discharges almost pink and I am unsure of what might be the cause. Now I am realizing that the discharges are dark brown. I have been having unprotected sex with my boyfriend. Could this be my period or pregnancy?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
Menstrual bleeding is dark maroon to brown colour. Light pink to red blood discharge can be from cervix (lower end of uterus). The source of bleeding after sex is usually the cervix, enough friction or mild trauma during sexual intercourse can cause some bleeding.
so you should use water-based lubricants during sex. Inflammation of the cervix or some other abnormality, most of which are harmless, can also result in bleeding.

As per your 2nd query, Bleeding after sexual intercourse is not a symptom of getting pregnant.
If problem persist visit a gynaecologist
