What Causes Irregular Heartbeat While Treating Cough?

Hi Dr Rynne, I was prescribed a cough mixture from doctors rooms and found that although i felt some ways better, I was having some suppressed feeling and appetite decreased considerably; also I felt very depressed. I have previously had shock toxins (5 years ago) and perhaps my adrenals are not able to cope with this over the counter medication. Also I have had irregular heart beat previously and should take propanolol. Is cough mixture so strong.. and what other option meds are there for a viral flu. Thank you

Hello,

I do not think your suppressed feeling and decreased appetite is caused by cough medicine. Instead, I do think it's related to the primary diagnosis that caused cough (viral flu). That's normal.

You should keep well hydrated. Have your meals regularly although no appetite. At least keep eating a little bit. Take multivitamin supplements or drinks. Do follow up with your caring doctor regularly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
