What Causes Irregular Heartbeats After Drinking Cold Things?

Sometimes, when my husband drinks something cold (it can be juice, or tea) his heart will begin to pound erratically and his arms will feel strange. He is 59, 170 lbs. 6 ft tall, sometimes deals with higher blood pressure 160-170/70. He find this sensation alarming. Any idea of the cause?

Hi,

It may be due to cool drinks or soft drinks may contain caffeine which may lead to tachycardia. Other possibilities like cold front any aggravate bronchial asthma or cold induced bronchospasm to lead to dyspnea or tachycardia.

Elevated blood pressure also may lead to tachycardia. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Avoid carbonated or caffeinated drinks, use antihypertensive drugs to control blood pressure.

If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
