What Causes Irregular Menstrual Bleeding?

I had my period for my regular 5-6 days. Day 7 was the usual dark red, light bleeding. Day 8 no bleeding. Night time of day 9, bright red bleeding again. This is unusual for me, as my periods are pretty much like clockwork. I am 34 yrs old and have been abstinent. Please help explain this irregular change.

Hi,

Minor changes in the menstrual flow can occur at certain months. Any history of new drug intake, stress, diet alterations and vigorous exercise can cause alterations in the cycle. I would suggest you to wait and watch for the bleeding pattern in your next cycle. Any excess bleeding or cramps may necessitate visiting your gynaecologist. In case you are worried, you can get clinically examined and get a pelvic ultrasound to rule out any abnormalities.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
