What Causes Irregular Menstrual Cycle After Having Safe Sex?
Hi, I am 17 years old and have had sex with my boyfriend about 5 times over the past month. This past month is the first time I've ever had sex, and we used condoms, and made sure they didn't break. My period was about 4 days late, and only lasted for 2 days. I took a pregnancy test and it came back negative, but I'm still concerned. I've been feeling sick at night and I'm wondering your advice.
All your intercourses were protected by condom, you had menses after the intercourses and your pregnancy test result was negative. So, the chances of pregnancy are very remote.
Once delayed menses by 4 days should not be labelled as irregular menses. Observe for next few months. If they remain to be irregular, you may require to undergo hormonal follow up like FSH/LH. At this age, Thyroid dysfunction is very common which can result into menstrual irregularities. Hence, get your Thyroid function tests (T3, T4, TSH) done. In that case, please report to a Gynaecologist.
I hope this helps you.
