What Causes Irregular Menstruation After Mirena Removal?

Ever since my mirena fell out I haven t had a period. (I Didn t have a cycle the 4 yrs I had it) It s been about 3 months and each month I spot for a few days. I ve also noticed that I ve had a discomforting odor as well. Is this normal after the mirena? Is it just taking a while for my body to get adjusted without the birth control?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi! Welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, irregularities can be due to hormonal imbalance caused by it however, local infection should be ruled out. Hugh vaginal swab cultures and sensitivity as well as ultrasound pelvis may be needed followed by a gynecologist review. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Regards
