What Causes Irregular Menstruation After Discontinuation Of Depo-Provera?
Hi. I have had 3 periods in the last month, and I m not sure why. I think it is my body re-regulating since I quit depo-provera about 4 months ago. I was on depo for 6 months and then stopped and switched to condoms. Before depo, my periods were regular but on the heavy side. During depo, I was in lots of pain the first month, and then had no more pain or periods after. When I quit, it took 2 months to have a period. Then 2 months after that, I have had 3 periods in one month. Not sure if this is normal or not.
For investigations of irregular menstruations, you may be asked for hormonal work up like FSH, LH, Oestrogen, Progesterone, Prolactin, etc. Before hormonal check up, you will be examined internally to find any organic disease like infection or cyst-Ultrasonography also will reveal a good amount of information regarding your internal organs (and even pregnancy also). Avoid stress, take a healthy diet, drink plenty of water and do regular exercise.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
