What Causes Irregular Menstruation After Inserting Contraceptive Implant?
Hi, I have the contraceptive implant fitted in my arm and I got that in March 2015. Things are going fine with it but my periods are now very irregular which I do understand is a side effect. Thing is, I m going to China for 2 weeks in September and recently went to the doctors to get a pill that would stop my period for the duration of that time as I don t want to have my period while travelling. --I totally forgot to tell him that I have the implant in my arm. Will it be okay to have the implant AND take the norethisterone pills (what my GP has prescribed) to stop my period?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand that you are on birth control implant. The irregular menstruation what you are experiencing is one of the common side effects of the implant. Over a period of time, it will start happening normally. So don't have to worry much about it. Though you are on implant, you can take pills to postpone your period since you are travelling. Only thing is do not exceed the recommend dose. Once you stop the pills, you will get periods and from next cycle your contraceptive implant will continue its action. Hope the information provided is useful. Wish you good health.
