What Causes Irregular Menstruation Post Birth Control Implantation?

hi ive been on the implant for about 9/10 months now my last period was really heavy (although other periods have been really irregular) and lasted four week but that was two and a half/ three month ago. my food has started to taste funny as well as coffee and tea ive also put on some weight. I just wondered if drinking a lot could effect the implant. (might I be pregnant??) Im 26, 11stone and 5 7 thanks

Hi,

Contraceptive implant does have side effects like your symptoms are. These are likely to continue for few months following implantation. You should wait for a couple of more months and in case of no relief meet the inserting gynecologist. She may think of removal and replacement by two hormone contraceptive oral pills.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
