What Causes Irregular Menstruation While On Folic Acid?
hello Dr. I am married for 6months now, am worried about my period changing dates ,i was unable to conceive and i seek medical attention in which have been placed on folic acid CCD 5mg since then have been experiencing irregular periods ,this month alone it came twice.....i use to have it on the 28 days but now it comes after 26 to 27 days, what can i do iam worried, thanks in advance.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCm. I understand your concern. Folic acid is a water soluble vitamin. It is given to correct anaemia and it helps to keep the ovarian tissues to function optimally. Its intake is not known to be associated with causing irregular menstruation. Menstrual cycles happening 3 to 5 days later than 28 days is considered as normal. Hence, you need not be worried about it as stress ins also known to cause delay in periods. Relax for now and take the medications as recommended. Do the follow-up as advised. Hop the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
