What Causes Irregular Period When Diagnosed With Bacterial Vaginosis?

Hi i was diagnosed with BV 3 months ago an was given Metrogyl 400 to take twice a day for 10days, I have not started taking the medication yet because of my epilepsy. I am now well should i start taking Metrogyl 400 now? My periods have become irregular in the last 2 months, could this be because i have left my BV untreated?
