Hi,
Irregular periods can occur due to many causes like:
- Imbalance of estrogen,
progesterone, LH or FSH hormones as in PCOD, thyroid hormonal imbalance, serum
prolactin imbalance
- Other medical conditions like diabetes, anemia etc.
- Changes in weight, sleep, exercise, sedentary lifestyle etc.
You didn't mention your investigation reports. According to your history, your doctor might have suspected hormonal imbalance and treated with combined hormonal pills.
The points that can help you are:
- Your age of menarche is normal
- Your BMI is 24.4, in higher normal limits. You may need to loose one or two kgs, which can help in regularizing the cycles.
- If possible try to walk for 5 to 10 minutes after every 2 hours of continuous sitting.
- Milk secretion from breast unassociated with child birth is called
galactorrhea, which can occur due to causes like increased serum prolactin levels, TSH changes, rarely
pituitary tumors. These conditions can present with irregular periods also.
Now please consult your Gynecologist once, get examined and go for investigations like:
Hemoglobin level, blood sugar, thyroid profile, serum prolactin levels and
ultrasound abdomen and pelvis. With this workup the possible cause of your problem can be identified and treatment can be taken accordingly. Be hopeful.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Sree Gouri S. R., OBGYN
