What Causes Irregular Periods At The Age Of 42 Having One Tube Taken Out?

I am 42 years old and my menstrual cycle has been off the past year. sometimes it is normal at 28 days it seems every other month it is every 15 days. Why is this. I have had one tube taken out over 20 years ago due to eptopic pregnancy but have always had my cycle every month and always 28 days. no further pregnancies since.

Hi,

Removal of Fallopian tube as such does not have any effect on your menstrual cycle.

In my opinion, irregular cycles that you are getting can be due to age-related hormonal changes.

Please get sonography report done to look for any structural pathology of the representative organs. And seek the opinion of your gynecologist for the same.

There can be perimenopausal changes but needs to be clinically co-related. Please opt for a healthy diet and regular exercise regime.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Purushottam Neurgaonkar, OBGYN
