What Causes Irregular Periods Despite Taking Precautions After Having Sex?

My boyfriend and I had protected sex but the condom broke and he came inside me. I took ecp 6hrs after and it took 7 days before I got withdrawal bleeding. Am i pregnant? I bled less than usual and it lasted only for two days. I have irregular periods btw. We did it one week before my expected period. What im going to do?

OBGYN 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern. Firstly, let me inform you that ovulation occurs two weeks prior to the onset of the next period, whatever the length of the cycle. This is the fertile phase when conception can occur. Since you had the intercourse during the safe period, you are naturally protected. The emergency pill you consumed provides added benefit. However, the high hormone content in the pill leads to hormone disruption leading to a delayed natural cycle. Also, the withdrawal bleeding observed after the pill need not resemble a normal period. Wait for your natural period and get help if you become overdue by ten days. Hope this helps.
