What Causes Irregular Periods, Especially After Delivering A Baby?

Good day. I would like to know why after having my son my period has become irregular in that on some months I have the regular pms but the period its self is a no show. My son is now five and it has been happening since he was born. When my period does show it will take approximately 4 weeks before the flow stops. Usually I have to see my doc to get something to stop it. I have done numerous test but still I cannot be provided with an answer to say what is causing this problem.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the issue of irregular periods after delivering a baby if it is the duration of 5 months - breast feeding altering the hormone homeostasis and the same will continue till feeding and if it is duration of 5 years (sorry to be descriptive, but here it is not clearly mentioned) then OBGYN work up for myometrial inflammation, growth or else has to be evaluated in details.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
