What Causes Irregular Periods While On Contraceptives?
Hi, I have had a prolactinoma for years now and am being treated by medication. I am on birth control as I am sexually active, even though I know prolactinomas can affect ovulation. Even though am I on oral contraceptives, I have extremely irregular periods and spot very often.
“As” per your clinical history is concerned you have prolactinoma so I want to know what is your present prolactin level and what is your MRI scan status despite taking medication and what medication you are taking right now and what is the dose. So your irregular period is due to hormonal imbalance only so take proper treatment of prolactinoma if it is not controlled by medications then endoscopic surgical procedure can be tried. Do a pelvic ultrasound and check your present TSH level to rule out other pathology.
Hope that help
