What Causes Irregular Periods With Heavy And Dark Discharge?

I've had my period twice this month the first time dark blood and it lasted 7 days and now it back on day 6. Should I be worried? When i was younger i had bad cramps and heavy bleeding the cramps are not as bad now Im 49 but the long periods are back
