Hello,

If you are getting cycles every 28 days (give or take 7 days) then you can consider it as regular (i.e., getting cycles every 21 or up to 35 days is normal). If you are not getting periods even after 35 days consecutively over the months then you can get evaluated for irregular cycles. If there is any chance for pregnancy then you can do a card test to diagnose because failing pregnancy can present with irregular bleeding.

You can do a couple of blood tests (TSH, Prolactin) to check for hormonal causes. It is also worthwhile to get an ultrasound pelvis done to check for any causes like ovarian cysts, fibroids, polyps, PCOD etc. If all the above investigations are normal you can consider taking oral contraceptives for 3 months or so to regularize your periods provided you don not have any contraindications for taking the medicine (age, smoking history, thrombosis risk, CVA, breast malignancy, liver diseases severe migraine).

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
