What Causes Irregular Periods?

I ve been off birth control for 4 months . My boyfriend and I no longer use protection. Before taking birth control my menstrual cycle was irregular. Since I ve been off the pill I have received my period on the 10th for the past 3 months. This month I missed my period but I have no pregnancy symptoms. Is there a chance of me being pregnant or am I becoming irregular again?
