What Causes Irregular Periods?

Good Afternoon. I am a 36 year old female and my menstural cycle is irregular. I have never had an irregular menstural cycle. I am experiencing all the normal systems, bloating, mild cramping, sensitivity in my breast. I am spotting but only a little. I have not taken a home pregnancy test because I am spotting a little. I am physically activity, and have been for the past few years. There hasn t been any changes in my diet or weight. What is causing my period to be irregular?

OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine 's  Response
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Irregular periods can be due to pregnancy or hormonal disturbances like hypothyroidism or due to local lesions in cervix or vagina including cervical cancer. I would suggest you to get a urine pregnancy test done, if negative then you should consult an OBGYN specialist to get properly examined, investigated including hormonal profile, pap smear and ultrasound and get appropriate treatment.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Wishing you good health.
