What Causes Irregular Periods?

I have a normal 27 day cycle which comes like clock work each month. I last had a period on Feb 21,2011, I started to have very light bleeding on March 23 around 6pm. On the 24th it was slight cramping and the bleeding became heavy off and on, on the 25th (today) i only had blood when wipping and nothing more. well my question will be is this normal
