What Causes Irregular Periods?

hi, im 18 and i dont get regular periods. when i do come on its usually every few months. I had 2 ultrasound scans, the first time i apparently had a cyst which they suggested could be functional and the 2nd time they said everything was normal so i cant have PCOS. Does that mean its likely that i have PCOS?
