What Causes Irregular Vaginal Spotting During Periods?

Hi, I m 47 years old now and since June this year I m expreriencing blood spotting in between my periods. I am forced to wear napkin almost everyday because of that. My last menstruation was on Oct 15 and it was too heavy that lasted for a week which is not normal compare to my usual menstrual flow. I missed my period for month of November. Do i have serious condition or am I on the way to menopause?

I have gone through your query. This is usual when nearing menopause. Imbalance in hormones is the main reason for this. Better to have a physical examination by gynecologist and ultrasound to know the exact status. Hormone levels can be assessed if needed also.
