What Causes Irregularities In Menstruation?

I have no idea if I am just having a irregular period or if it something else. On wed I had noticed I started to bleed a little but it was like a slim like substance with a little blood than for about two days had little bleeding and times where no bleeding occurred but I have cramps and lower back pain
