What Causes Irritation And Discharge After Shaving The Vaginal Area?

I recently shaved my genital area, and to prevent ingrown hairs, I used some rubbing alcohol to pat the area down. since then I've been experiencing irritation (mostly itching), and a little discharge. should I see my doc or will these symptoms eventually go away? I'm 34, female, 5'2, 163lbs, no major medical issues ever.
