What Causes Irritation On Feet After Washing With Water?

Becoming more often when I shower at night as the water hits the tops of my feet they become very irritated, which sets off the feeling like they are on fire they itch and hurt and all I want to do is severally scratch them. it seems that the temp does not make a difference I find that I try to stand in such a way as to not have direct contact of the water coming straight out of the shower head. if I set them in very hot water that seems to turn off the sensations and or irritations and most of the times a heavy dose of Benadryl will curb the irritations. your thoughts please, neuropathy or diabetes ??
