What Causes Itchiness And Redness While Using A Birth Control Patch?

MY WIFE IS USING THE PATCH BUT IT CAUSES SUBSTANTIAL ITCHING AND REDNESS WHEN THE PATCH IS BEING WORN AND AFTER IT IS REMOVED AND THIS CAN LAST FOR SEVERAL DAYS. IS THERE ANY TREATMENT YOU SUGGEST THAT CAN STOP THIS ITCHING. SHE DOES PUT A PRESCRIPTION CREAM ON THE AREA AFTER THE PATCH REMOVAL BUT IT STILL ITCHES

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Itching and redness over the birth control patch area can be overcome by taking antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine.

Local area treatment of skin by cleansing with a mild antiseptic solution like Savlon would also help. Application of moisturizer cream should also be beneficial.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
